With Ballston CrossFit since July 2023
At the age of 3, my parents enrolled me in a kindergarten gymnastics class. From that moment on gymnastics was my sport. Competing up to the highest level of gymnastics, I earned a full athletic scholarship to the NCAA D1 gymnastics program at the George Washington University. Competing for this program meant more than performing my best, but rather the teams success as a whole; It didn’t matter how successful I was, it required all of us to accomplish the goals we set out to take on.
During my athletic career I had earned many accolades such as: Conference Rookie of the Year, NCAA regional champion on vault, and earning my spot at the NCAA national tournament during my senior year in 2017. Although these individual accolades made me proud, what was even better was winning conference championships for the first time in program history as a team in 2015 and then again in 2017 as a co-captain of the program. Gymnastics taught me that you are stronger than you think you are and life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. During my senior year I had torn my labrum in my shoulder, but I was still grateful I was able to compete at the highest level amongst my teammates.
At the conclusion of my career, I had my shoulder surgery and thought I would never find some thing that was as amazing as gymnastics… Until I started CrossFit in 2018. I always told myself I wouldn’t be like every other college gymnast that does CrossFit, but after my first class, I was instantly hooked. Not just by the workout itself, but the community and the support from people that I didn’t even know. As I started coaching college athletics as the assistant coach of the women’s gymnastics team at GW, I found myself earning my CrossFit L1 and began coaching a new sport that I love.
I believe that CrossFit isn’t just who has the fastest Fran time but more of the community and support you can bring one another and understanding that you are in control of more than you think you are. I am so proud to say I get to coach amazing people and athletes inside the gym and cannot wait to help inspire and help others realize they can surpass their own expectations.. and you know… make BCF the best CrossFit gymnasts out there!
I am excited and honored to continue my coaching career here at BCF!
