Q: How did you find out about Ballston CrossFit (BCF) and what convinced you to join the gym?
I live in the area and was always fascinated when I walked by and saw BCF training sessions. I signed up because I was going through a difficult time and needed something new and challenging to focus on.
Q: What stopped you from joining the gym sooner?
I am Greek. I do not do discipline well.
Q: When did you start at BCF and what were your goals you set when you joined the gym?
I started a year ago. My initial goal was to survive the hour and walk home without pain. Now, I fly back with an adrenaline high!
Q: What has helped you achieve success at BCF?
My 9:30am group and the awesome coaches who I train with regularly – Bobby and Carolyn. They are great at coaching but better at mending my soul.
Q: What advice can you give to others who are new to CrossFit?
If you want to feel a shift in your life, we’re here.
Q: Besides working out, what other lifestyle changes did you make outside of the gym to achieve your goals?
At 54, I recognized the importance of eating healthy and regular exercise, but it was always forced and required a lot of willpower. Then, Ballston CrossFit and the 9:30am crew happened. This is the first time in my life I crave eating healthy, getting stronger, feelin confidence and exercising daily. It’s something I GET to do rather than HAVE to do!!!
Q: What is the biggest benefit you have noticed since starting CrossFit (both in or out of the gym)?
In the gym, I have noticed increased strength. Outside of the gym, I have noticed increased energy and focus.
Q: What has been your favorite thing about BCF?
The humans.
Q: What has been your favorite memory related to CrossFit?
The rush of completing challenging workouts.
Q: What’s one thing you love about this gym that has nothing to do with working out?
Absorbing the love, each and every time.
